How do you give form to a bungalow with a modern character, without it feeling cold? A design that looks clear and contemporary, yet radiates warmth and a sense of shelter at the same time?

The bungalow consists of three volumes. A main volume with the entrance and the U-shaped living area. A side volume with the storage, bathroom and a bedroom. The third volume is the rooftop addition with two smaller rooms and a smaller bathroom.
Together the three volumes form a harmonious whole, understated and subtle in their appearance.

The detailing is restrained and careful. The brickwork along the roof edges is finished with a tall soldier course, which in turn is capped by a zinc bead. From a distance, this bead appears as a pencil-thin line that subtly frames the volume.
The aluminium window frames extend to the roof edge at most points and are visually terminated there by the bead. This ensures maximum natural light and the calmest possible facade appearance.

The living area on the ground floor flows from one function to the next.
The four areas — sitting room, transitional space, dining area and kitchen — together form a U-shape around the core, which contains the entrance, toilet and staircase.
At the front facade lies the sitting area, where several vertical and horizontal slot windows offer views onto the public space outside. Through a transitional space, a connection is made to the dining area, where a panoramic sliding door provides maximum contact with the exterior. Directly connected to the dining area lies the kitchen with a central island and plenty of views of the garden. From the kitchen the space continues into the side wing.
